MitosisThis is a featured page

In class we are studying Mitosis. Mitosis is the division of the parent cell that divides into two daughter cells. Here are the phases the parent cell must go through to create the two daughter cells:

Please only add ONE step to this page. Please note that in the pro-phase there are 3 steps. You may add pictures if necessary.

Step one: Inter-phase
  • In the Inter-phase the chromosomes duplicate-Hanson
  • Also, they stay attached to their copy.--Maddy

Step two: Pro-phase

1. The nucleus dissolves. ~Lauren~ Mitosis - Mr. Carroll's Wiki
2. Poles form. ~ Mitali~
3. Spindles form, connecting the 2 poles at opposite ends.-Monica-17/01/'08

Step 3: Meta-phase
  • In this phase the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.--Maddy Mitosis - Mr. Carroll's Wiki

Step 4: Ana-phase

  • The chromosomes starts splitting up, to opposite ends.--SooMinMitosis - Mr. Carroll's Wiki

Step 5: Telophase
  • The parent cell divides into 2 daughter cells. ~Tamara~ Mitosis - Mr. Carroll's Wiki
  • The nucleus reforms.--Monica--17/01/08

Facts about Mitosis:
parent cells and daughter cells are the same copy of each other it's just that they duplicate--- Shannon Lee-- 4/1/08Mitosis - Mr. Carroll's Wiki

Parent cells become daughter cells when they separate. Then the daughter cells are called parent cells until they duplicate, and so on.--Monica-April 8,08
