Second Half of the Year in Everyday Math
We have recently finished the second half of Everyday Math.
Please share your thoughts such as:
What did you like or dislike about the Chapters 7-12 in Everyday Math?
Were there any surprises?
What was your favorite part...what was your least favorite part?
Was it easier or harder than you expected?
Be specific and explain...
I enjoyed some of the activities such as plotting points like battleship. I enjoyed it because it compared to something I have played before which helped me understand the concepts of coordinates. I was a bit surprised when the journal came back to factor trees and prime factorization as we already did it in an earlier unit. I actually enjoyed that a bit because we came back to something we should know to help us find the GCF and LCM. My favorite part was probably the games. My favorite game was the game with 3-D shapes and different things about them. I enjoyed that a lot because I enjoy playing cards and I love drawing 3-D shapes. That was also a game which made me think a lot! I didn't like the whole lesson reviewing things we already did. That is really good and probably helpful for many people, but I normally remember that kind of stuff. I found the unit actually a bit easy because it was some of a review to me. Overall, this quarters math was very good and I enjoyed doing many things with the program. ~ Mitali ~ ~ May 22, 2008 ~
In unit 7 I thought that it was quite hard because there were negative and positive numbers.Also we had to put in parentheses into number sentences.I thought that was hard too.I really liked unit 9 because we plotted coordinates and also played battle ship.Overall I enjoyed unit 9.~Lucy~May 22,2008~
Lucy, I agree with you. I also found negative numbers a bit hard because you had to think thermometer to get some of those problems right. I actually drew a thermometer on the page! ~Mitali~ ~May 23, 2008~
My favorite unit was also unit 9 just like Lucy because plotting the points were really fun. I really enjoyed the activity named mystery picture because we had the freedom to plot whatever we wanted to plot. ~Mitali~ ~May 23, 2008~
In unit 9 the other thing that I liked was also when we had done the turtle and also making the US map was also was fun too.~Lucy~May 23,2008~
My favorite unit is 9 because when we are plotting points we had to plot Mr. Carroll's first name and it was really hard to find the points.Now it is easier.-Vivian-5-23-08
I also liked the graphs and making stories behind the graphs we created. That was really fun! ~Mitali~ ~May 26, 2008~

I liked to do the coordinates, battle ship, Stem and Leaf plot, and all other things. I would like to improve on Unit 11, Unit 12 and the Final Test where I did careless mistakes. Such as the Final Test: I drew a triangle instead of a rectangle! I should really improve on checking over my work!!! --SooMin--May, 28, 2008
